Abstract: 

Recent research focusing on the participation of astrocytes in glutamatergic tripartitesynapses has revealed mechanisms that supportc ognitive functions common to human and other mammalian species, such as learning, perception, conscious integration, memory formation / retrieval and the control of voluntary behavior.
